Job Overview
The Behavior Technician works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to provide direct, one-on-one behavioral intervention services to individuals with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder. The BT implements behavior intervention plans, collects data, and supports skill development in a clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities
Implement individualized behavior intervention plans designed by a BCBA
Provide one-on-one therapy using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles
Collect accurate data on client behavior and skill acquisition
Assist with teaching communication, social, self-help, and adaptive skills
Manage challenging behaviors using approved behavior strategies
Maintain a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment
Communicate regularly with supervisors and caregivers regarding progress
Attend required training sessions, team meetings, and supervision
Maintain client confidentiality and follow ethical and professional standards
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
Ability to follow behavior plans and accept feedback
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliable transportation
Physical ability to sit, stand, and engage in active play for extended periods
Required Certifications (or willingness to obtain)
CPR and First Aid certification
Completion of background check and required clearances
